ABOUT THE MOVIE

FERAL DOMESTIC

By Dani and Sheilah ReStack.

Gathered together under the title Feral Domestic, these three videos – Strangely Ordinary This Devotion, Come Coyote and Future From Inside - are a marker of time, queer desire, family, place, relation and conflict. Using both documentary and fictional footage from their lives, the ReStack’s forge fragmented possibility inside a world that often feels broken.

The works are a continued collaborative attempt to find resolution through connection – using form, color, sound, children, and artmaking as narrative through lines that propose the domestic as a place of unexpected catalyst and re-invention.

BIO

Hamid Waheed is a trained filmmaker and visual artist who works with film, writing, graphics, and performance. The use of characters and dramaturgy is presented in an expanded sense, where desire and queerness form the foundation for exploring speculative narratives about time, intimacy, and violence. Several of his works are collaborative in nature, created together with other artists.

His work has been shown in numerous venues, including the National Museum, Fotogalleriet, and Kunstnernes Hus (Oslo); METEOR International Theatre Festival and KODE (Bergen); Open Out Festival and Tromsø Art Association (Tromsø); Nikolaj Kunsthal and Den Frie Udstillingsbygning (Copenhagen). Film festivals include Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, the Norwegian Short Film Festival, and Wicked Queer in Boston. In 2020 he won the Critics' Prize at Nord-Norsken, and in 2022 he was one of three nominees for the Blix Prize.
