ABOUT BABY-HORN
For Baby-Horn, little sister to their forthcoming performance Lick-Horn, Bryana Fritz and Thibault Lac take on the infamous Medieval tapestry series The Lady and the Unicorn. Inviting the audience to enter millefleur decadence and the outdoor indoors, they set up stage under the banner of ‘Mon seul désir’. Immortal figures such as the lady, her lady-in-waiting, and a menagerie of accompanying animals rehearse an allegory of the senses to evoke friendship, companionship, courtly love and other worldly pleasures. While the unicorn, never properly observed in the natural world, trots across the horizon of desire.
Alongside the diptych formed by Knight-Night (2022) and Lick-Horn (October 2026), Baby-Horn is part of a constellation of works that draw on the medieval imagination to explore contemporary ways of seeing, staging, and relating to one another. By placing the audience at the heart of the tapestry and its creation—where the configuration of Lick-Horn will be frontal—the work offers a form of sensory experience whose meaning remains provisional, interconnected, and always in the making.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
BRYANA’S WORKSHOP
Between the beloved and the divine, medieval textual cultures developed elaborate techniques for sustaining desire. In particular, this workshop will focus on the sentences and structures coming from the courtly love tradition and their transformations within women's mystical writing. Think: longing, erotic attachment, divine excess, ecstasy, surrender, annihilation. It's a lot. Probably too much, as always. In the manner of a nervous lover preparing to meet the beloved, I will gather in advance a selection of primary, secondary, and peripheral texts as possible points of departure. Materials through which to trace the ways eroticism, absence, attachment, and ecstatic loss move between sexual, secular, and spiritual registers. If the content is medieval text, then the form is embodied reading, aspirational sound production, and collective dance practice.
THIBAULT’S WORKSHOP
A 2 × 2 m raised platform, in dialogue with Felix Gonzalez-Torres's Untitled (Go-Go Dancing Platform), is used to operate here as a small stage : a device that produces the body as an object of attention and, in doing so, transforms movement itself. This workshop investigates the constitutive role of the gaze in choreographic production : how being watched reorganizes what we make, how desire structures visibility, how the imagined or actual presence of an other reconfigures the dancer's interiority. Participants work at the threshold between onstage and offstage, understood not only as a spatial boundary but as a mode of relating to one's own visibility : practicing the oscillation between dancing for oneself and dancing for others, attending to what shifts in that crossing. Invoking fiction as practical methodology, we ask what an assumed posture or subjectivity makes available that more direct approaches foreclose: how attention circulates, how desire anchors performance, and what it means to be, simultaneously, the subject and object of a choreographic act.
BIO’S
Thibault Lac is a dancer and choreographer based between Geneva and Paris. He has performed with Ligia Lewis, Mathilde Monnier, Alexandra Bachzetsis, Daniel Jeanneteau, and Price, and is a recurring presence in the choreographic work of American artist Trajal Harrell. He develops collaborative projects as an author, notably with Tobias Koch and Bryana Fritz. Exploring the notion of camp through its archetypes and mythologies, he also creates performances for the cabaret collective Les Moches.
Bryana Fritz is a choreographer, dancer, and writer based in Marseille. A graduate of P.A.R.T.S., she has performed with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Xavier Le Roy, Boris Charmatz, and Dimitri Chamblas. Her practice—shaped by medieval studies, experimental womxn’s writing, theology, and the histories of collective forms—unfolds at the intersection of dance, performance, literature, and historical research. Working in both solo and collaborative formats, Fritz frequently partners with Thibault Lac (Knight-Night & Lick/Baby-Horn) and Henry Andersen (Slow Reading Club).
